[TRANSLATED] It looks like action still follows necessity

It's very gratifying to see the amount of effort that Portugal is putting into developing clean energy. While pretty much everyone in the world talks a big game when it comes to renewables, actions speak louder than words, and it seems like Portugal is way ahead of the game in this respect. As we can see from the article, there are specific reasons why this should be the case. Forced by an energy deficit into seeking alternative paths, Portugal was also lucky enough to possess an abundance of water, wind and solar resources. In this context, developing clean energy was pretty much a no-brainer. By the same token, it is also easy understand why this should not be the case for so many other countries. While they still have access to plentiful and convenient sources of fossil fuel, why should they go to the trouble of spending large sums on research into developing clean energy? Hopefully, these countries will be able to see beyond the immediate present and have the foresight to act before it's too late.

[TRANSLATED] Good News.

I think there are two key points that will determine Portugal's success: 1. The question of how to lower the cost of wind power; 2. The question of how to make best use of emissions trading markets.
