There is certainly a lot of hypocrisy -- not just in developed countries but in some developing countries also. Some developing countries that are rich in natural resources ask for money to alleviate poverty: their problem is not that they are poor but that their leaders steal huge amounts of money and don't care about the poor people on their doorstep. But when someone as influential as the head of the Sustainable Development Commission in Germany argues that developing countries should take the lead, surely we should should welcome it rather than sneer at it? Nobody's perfect but if we just pick on each others faults we are never going to get anywhere. This kind of sneering at the other side is too often just an excuse not to do anything ourselves.
