Jockin Arputham

Jockin Arputham became a community-organizer in the 1960s when the slum where he lived, Janata colony, was threatened with demolition. He then founded India's National Slum Dwellers Federation and Slum Dwellers International. In 2001, he was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay award.
