Shanghai announces first car ban

Anyone in the inner city between 7am and 7pm that day will be urged to use public transport or walk, china.org reported, citing a city
government website.
The plan is part of a national campaign to reduce air pollution, which will involve 100 cities holding a "car-free" day on the same day, reports said.
According to official figures, 80% of the pollution in Shanghai's downtown area is caused by vehicles emissions.
