Chinese floods - 'Once-in-a-Century', British floods – worst since 1947

President Hu Jintao described the floods that hit southwestern, central and eastern China in the past week as 'Once-in-a-Century'. The comments, reported by Xinhua, were made on a visit to Chongqing, where 42 people died as a result of the floods. The Environmental News-Wire adds that since mid-June, more than 100 million people in China have been affected by flooding and rain, with an estimated 3.6 million being forced from their homes. more ...
