I appreciate the concept this podcast attempts to highlight--pollution, and the impact of a beloved technology--and the irony of false advertizing. However, Apple is just one of many consumer technologies hazardous to our health--from electromagnetic radiation to excessive e-waste that finds its way into overstuffed landfills contaminating groundwater to water/air pollution belching from Santa's stacks, to murder/rape/terrorism in countries like the Congo where rare earth metals are mined to produce these gimmicks for an oblivious apathetic world of voracious consumers. Apple is just one company. What about the other 101 companies that produce the same thing? Lenovo. Sony. Chinese brands. What about all the Chinese products inside the Apple devices--these machines are not produced in one place. What about all the rare earth minerals mined in China? Why is Apple and Google always singled out in China?
is it fair to single out Apple? All e-products are produced the same way. The entire consumer world is produced in the same way? Instead of attacking Apple, why question and document/watch/monitor the entire modern ethos of mining, manufacturing, distribution, fuel costs, and trade laws and practices? why not question our whole economic paradigm? It all functions the same way, especially in China. Why single out Apple? Let's talk about earth rights. Is there any conventional industry that is green or ethical--especially in China? Why is Conoco-Phillips singled out for the oil spill in the Bohai? Many Chinese oilers have contaminated these waters? why do hear about the sins of western companies, but not Chinese companies and industries that grossly violate air and water in China at incomprehensible rates? This video is poorly done--so much more could be said and examined and exposed.
Written against the backdrop of continuing suicides among Indian farmers, a new book describes the impact of the country’s agricultural crisis on women
The Fate of the Species by Fred Guterl is a bracing overview of the worst that can happen if humans do not overcome their ecological and Earth-systems illiteracy, writes Caspar Henderson.
What about Lenovo, Sony, Samsung...
