China's environmental problems existed prior to industrialization

The concept of the so-called "harmony between heaven and man" is not the mainstream traditional culture. In ancient China, people also did their utmost to tap natural resources, though with less power, causing much forestry degradation. I'm sceptical about those who claim that "Chinese culture saves the earth". What is their real purpose? Are they aiming to save the earth or simply to popularize traditional culture? Such a claim presumably has a large market in modern western society. However, if China keeps resisting widely acknowledged and accepted "universal values" and instead popularizes a vague set of principles as "universal values", will it be really effective?

It Is Their Wish Not to Be Replaced

Presumably more multilateral processes compete with the UN will instead bring more benefits to this unwieldy and overstaffed bureaucratic organization.

Shuibo:

comments on shuibo's rebuttal

some suggestions for shuibo:
calm down before you refute it. Here is a quote in God Father :" Never hate your enemies -- it disturbs your judgment."
You need to present evidence to refute your opponent. The method of slapping labels is outdated.

No special purpose

I'm the author himself, I didn't write it in some particular purpose but to provoke discussion on nuclear power in china from abroad experience. Just because the Twelfth Five Year Plan is so important that broader debates and distinct opinions are needed. All decisions are resulted from interest balancing, this article is only adding weight to one side.Frankly speaking, the core problem is not whether we should develope nuclear power, but whether the energy policy is made in a transparent and open way with broad public discussion and participation.

Japan determines to develop renewable resources eventually

Japan is to build 14 nuclear reactors before 2030, raising nuclear power‘s share in the national energy supply from 30% to 50% according to Japan's newly-published energy plan in 2010.
However, Nanto Kan's claim in the news release on May 10 said that Japan's long-term energy plan would have to restart after the earthquake-triggered meltdown and nuclear leak in the Fukushima Nuclear Plant, adding that nuclear power and fossil fuel had always been two crucial parts in the Japanese energy policies, to which two more parts should be added now: renewable resources including solar energy and wind energy should be developed and an energy-conserving society should be pursued.
