气候变暖“每年致死315000人”

据路透社报道,全球人道主义论坛的一项研究指出,每年气候变化引起的饥饿、疾病和气候灾害导致31.5万人死亡,预计在 2030年这一数字将会达到50万。前联合国秘书长、现人道主义论坛的领导人,科菲安南称,“气候变化是我们这个时代最大的人道主义新挑战”。

Warming “kills 315,000 annually”

Climate change kills about 315,000 people a year through hunger, illness and weather disasters, and the annual death toll is expected to rise to 500,000 by 2030, Reuters reported, quoting a study commissioned by the Global Humanitarian Forum (GHF). “Climate change is the greatest emerging humanitarian challenge of our time,” said Kofi Annan, the former United Nations secretary-general, who now heads the GHF.

UN moves ahead on path to treaty

The world is “not standing still” in its work on a post-2012 climate treaty, the United Nations said in issuing a range of rival ideas for addressing climate change, Reuters reported. The 53-page text included such issues as 2020 goals for cuts in greenhouse-gas emissions and ways to monitor actions to curb global warming by developing nations such as China and India.
