any western mainstream media will run this article?

Many thanks for the authors' arguments here. WSJ has been owned by the News Corporation and they tend to use very eye-catching headlines and "thrilling" articles. Again, the Chinese are not very good at marketing their own efforts in main stream western media, in which the politics are dominating. Before the Chinese media can have influential voice in the international arena, perhaps China Dialogue is the best stage to showcase different voices from China. Well done!
Just to point out a small typo appearing in the first paragraph: 匪人所思的言论 should be 匪夷所思的言论.

Teacher Yu is someone who is prepared to speak the truth

Recently in China there has been a lot of discussion on the topic of "special interest groups ". Teacher Yu stands with the NGO in criticizing the benefiting of corporations, and this is a wonderful point of view. However, the problem lies in the fact that we should question how long and how thoroughly the NGO can control the special interest groups? China News Weekly ran an article analyzing who are those special interest groups - it's a great article, feel free to look:

How to deal with the conflict of interest between animal protection efforts and the commercial sector?

Actually, the conflict of interest between animal protection advocates and commercial interests has always existed. In China it has only flared up in recent years but in the West it has existed many decades. This bear bile issue is an extreme example of this conflict, and as a result is testing many people's underlying morals and emotions. In the west, the pharmaceutical industry, the cosmetics industry, and all of western society for that matter has faced much contention over the ethics of animal testing, with extreme animal rights organizations completely opposed. It is even seen that certain cosmetic brands will place such stamps such as "Not tested on animals" on their products in order to make their brand more attractive to consumers. After learning of the case of the Asian black bear, the animal rights movement will surely enter more people's hearts in China, and following this perhaps more of the public will start to face more of these extreme cases. Maybe in the future there will be no more cases like bear bile harvesting, but is the Chinese public prepared for that?
